VFX Line Producer
This page features the official trailer and two VFX breakdowns from The Legend of 1900, directed by Giuseppe Tornatore, based on the play by Alessandro Baricco.
I worked on the film as VFX Line Producer for Interactive Milano, managing and coordinating all aspects of the visual effects production.
Among the most innovative techniques used:
Extensive use of motion control with precise and complex camera moves, allowing the seamless replacement of the real pianist with Tim Roth in performance sequences;
In the iconic “piano dance” scene in the first-class lounge, the ship isn’t rocking—the camera is mounted on a motion control rig that simulates the ship’s movement, creating the illusion of sea swell entirely through controlled camera motion.
This high-level integration of VFX and cinematography helped create a believable, fluid world, merging actor performance with visual artistry and technical precision.
